Backyard Play Systems: Ground Zero For Moms, Dads & Kids

Remember when you were a kid?  Remember when you were a pirate, a river boat captain, when you scaled the Matterhorn or were a trapeze artist in the circus?  Today’s kids have their own unique way of expressing themselves. “It’s a sign of the  times,”  says Bob Hill, Co-Owner with Eric Fritz, of Woodplay of Madison.  “Kids are always going to have active imaginations, and backyard play systems are a wholesome and healthy way for active kids to express themselves. Because families are smaller, the days of the neighborhood baseball game, tag, dodge ball, kickball, or what have you, occur with less frequency. Kids still have imaginations, but they are applying themselves in a little different manner.”

“The play systems allow this to happen in a safe, secure and most important to many parents, an easily monitored  environment,” Hill continues.  “Parents have often told me they are comforted by the fact their kids like playing in their yard  and appreciate how the neighborhood kids enjoy playing on it so they know where their children are.”

Many times, parents initially think the play systems are ‘over the top’ compared to the swing-sets they remember from their childhood. However, the more they reflect on the situation, they realize they do not want their kids out of sight at the  neighborhood park for any amount of time, even if the park is across the street.  Times have changed and backyard play systems help families enjoy their families, homes and yards to highest degree.

The well known brands of play systems are generally good quality and have a lot to offer any family.  There are three basic base designs to work with in general.  They are Square Bases, Angle Bases and Combination Bases.

With the Square Base, you are limited to the faces presented by the bases.  There are multiple options and accessories you can add to the base to change how you can use the base, but you are limited.  With an Angle Base or Combination Base, you select from a wide selection of accessories, and are not limited to a specific amount of faces. You can configure your base in any manner you choose. They are custom built to fit your preferences. They are limited only by your imagination.

“In addition to creating a great play area for your kids, in most situations, the play system adds value to your property,” Hill adds.“I know this because countless Realtors have shared with me the scenario where offers are made for homes they are selling with the stipulation the play system remains on the property. You  can’t get a better testimonial than that.”
