Handyman Help

If you have jobs to do around your house that you either don’t have the time or knowledge to do, then a handyman service may be your answer. From yard work and minor maintenance to major repairs and replacements, a handyman can help.

Selecting one with limited skills may be alright if you only have limited needs but sometimes having a broader skill set is beneficial when you have a variety of jobs to complete, the jobs are bigger and more involved or you anticipate having needs in the future. Selecting the broader skills may save you time and money in the end.

How To Select A Handyman:

  • Prepare a list of all of the jobs needing to be done. From this list you will be able to identify the skills and experiences a handyman will need to have.
  • Ask detailed questions about their experiences. They should be able to provide examples including pictures of previous work completed.
  • Get references and call them. Reference checks can ensure that the handyman is capable, responsible and trustworthy.
  • Confirm they are insured. If not, you may be responsible for any injuries incurred on your property.
  • Ensure that the handyman is bonded, licensed and insured. This will reduce your risk while the handyman is in your home.
  • Require a written estimate including pricing and timing for completion.  Make sure you understand all details including if the quote includes labor, type of materials included, or any variables that could affect the final cost.
  • Ask for a signed contract that includes all of the pricing details for labor, materials and time for completion.
